Walking Dead #91
Walking Dead is the sole reason why I got back into comics. I picked up the first hardcover edition and just fell in love it and soon enough I was purchasing the other editions until I was all caught up and picking up single issues. The hard part about reading single issue is that sometimes the action or interesting part slow down a bit. It is necessary for the core story to progress but sometime as a reader I do want more action. When I was reading it by hardcover trades even when the story slowed down a bit I didn’t seem to notice because soon enough the pace would pick up. The highlight of this issue was the ending which seems to set up an interesting storyline for the future. The been dragging it on for a while in there somewhat safe haven would like to see them getting to some trouble like at the end of the prison arc. Were they will need to find a new place to live.
Avengers Academy #22
At one point one of my favourite Marvel Comics. I think it is still a great series but my making the Academy much larger with more students is a move I am not a fan of. Only 2 major students have been added to the series but multiple of minor characters appear in the comic. I would have preferred them not adding any new faces. It is still a fairly new series and should work on developing what they have started with. This issue also feature the X-Men. Cyclops, Magneto and Emma Frost make an appearance. They are there to figure out who destroyed Jocasta a robot back in issue #21. There is a lot of tension between Magneto and his son Quicksilver a teacher at Avengers Academy in the issue. Eventually things really break and both sides engage in a small battle.
Comic of the week.
This week’s comic of week the is Justice League #3. Wonder Woman is introduced in this issue. We also see the origin of Cyborg. At the end of the issue we see what could possibly the final member. The Justice League isn’t even formed yet. No one met each other before and Batman was believed to be just a fairy tale by some. The enemy is just robots. Not the most dangerous enemy at all for them. The art so far what has been the highlight so far. It is just gorgeous Jim Lee really has a talent and it shows here and in all his previous work. His work on Hush was probably my favourite along with his art on the current Justice League. Looking to see where they take this series. Lot of potential.
