Worldwide Superstar Whitney Houston has died aged 48.

The Grammy Award winning Singer and Actress, was found unresponsive in the bathtub of the Beverley Hills Hilton Hotel shortly before being due to perform at Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy Party.
Her cause of death is as of yet unknown.

Whitney’s career took a downward turn in recent years after widespread coverage of her volatile marriage to Bobby Brown and years of drug addiction. Her most recent album ‘I Look To You’ was meant to mark her return to the charts but the promotional tour showed that Whitney was still plagued by demon’s and that years of drug abuse had damaged that magnificent voice.

Speculation is sure to run rife about the cause of Whitney’s death, many will claim it was drugs, and unfortunately that’s how many will remember her.

I will remember her for having that voice. It was one of a kind and many of today’s artists will admit to owing a huge debt to Whitney and the doors she opened.

This is a tragic day for music instead of what was supposed to be a day of celebration with the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles being held later on today. Rumour’s are there will be a tribute held at the Grammy’s with singer Jennifer Hudson taking to the stage to perform in Whitney’s honour.

Her many hits throughout the 80′s and 90′s, from her beginnings with ‘Saving All My Love” to her most well known hit ‘I Will Always Love You’ from the soundtrack to The Bodyguard, Whitney cemented herself as a true icon in music, selling upwards of 50 million records in the US alone.

Her music will forever live in the hearts of those who appreciated Whitney for the artist she was.
