ZAGGfolio For iPad 2 Review

WHAT IS IT?

A wireless bluetooth keyboard and case for the iPad 2. When in the open position it kind of turns your ipad 2 into a mini PC or netbook of sorts. The case is made of a hard plastic and holds the ipad and keyboard when closed. If you have an iPad and you need to do some typing on the go and the thought of lugging a laptop makes you cringe I think this product is a very nice way to go.

FEATURES

The buttons on the keyboard are of course not as spaced out as a normal keyboard but I have had no problems using it. It totally gets the job done. There are function buttons included on the keyboard that I found extremely helpful such as buttons for cut, paste, home button, search, locking the ipad, and also music and movie controls. The keyboard features an internal battery that must be charged via mini usb cable which can be inserted into your apple wall charger. The battery life is great. I have used the keyboard daily for over a week and have not had to charge it since the initial charge of the device. The expected life is of the keyboards battery under normal use is a few months between charges which is great.

THE SET UP

Slide the iPad into the top of the case then sync the keyboard. The keyboard syncs with the iPad pretty easily and you only need to do it once. You just turn on bluetooth on the Ipad, and then on the keyboard itself click the power switch to the “on” position and then and press the connect button. The iPad rests in a groove on the top of the keyboard sideways lengthwise and vertically very securely without threat of tipping over.

THE GOOD

Its sleek. The keyboard works really well for the most part and makes typing reviews and other documents a breeze. It folds up nicely. Its easy to take the iPad out of the case when you want to go raw. It has great battery life. Looks kick ass. People seem to like it when I use it in public.

THE BAD

The keyboard has lost its sync quite a few times randomly during use. When this happens the keyboard stops recognising inputs and you have to lock and unlock the iPad to regain usage of the keyboard. Not a huge problem in terms of getting it going again as the ipad does save your place in whatever app you were using and you can resume right where you left off. Its more annoying than anything. Not sure if its becuase of interference from other devices or its an internal bug.

THE VERDICT

In all I highly reccomend the device. It retails for about $99. Not cheap at all though the build quality is in line with the price. The keyboard works well, the battery life is phenominal, and it also doubles as a hard case for trips. I can fold it up and throw it in my backpack without worring about my iPad being damaged.
